Republican Jeff Hurd is projected to win Rep. Lauren Boebert’s (R-Colo.) seat in Colorado, according to Decision Desk hQ.

Hurd, an attorney, defeated former Aspen City Councilman Adam Frisch for the western 3rd Congressional District. Boebert currently represents the district, though she opted to run in the eastern 4th Congressional District to avoid another competitive race.

Democrats sought to elevate Republican Ron Hanks in the GOP primary while attacking Hurd, with the strategy apparently being that Hanks would be an easier Republican to run against in the GOP-leaning House district.

Those efforts failed, with the establishment-backed Hurd winning the GOP primary.

The district went for Donald Trump in 2020 by more than 8 points; a Democrat hasn’t won it since 2008.
