Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic nominee for vice president, will deliver remarks Saturday evening at the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) annual national dinner in Washington, the LGBTQ advocacy organization and Vice President Harris’s campaign said Wednesday.

Walz, who has served as Minnesota’s governor since 2019, is a longtime advocate of LGBTQ equality. Under his administration, Minnesota banned conversion therapy and enacted laws shielding access to gender-affirming health care and abortion.

Walz also made a surprise appearance at the Democratic National Convention’s LGBTQ+ Caucus Meeting in Chicago last month.

“We are incredibly excited, and humbled, to welcome Vice Presidential Nominee Governor Tim Walz to our National Dinner,” Kelley Robinson, president of the HRC, which has endorsed the Harris-Walz ticket, said in a statement. “Whether it was as a veteran, teacher and football coach, member of Congress, or Governor, he has spent his career championing equality.”

President Biden headlined the event last year, and first lady Jill Biden also delivered remarks.
